Have you heard of Silverfit?  It is a new charity run by older people to inspire fitness for the over 50’s by providing fun opportunities to get fit while meeting new people. The volunteers and supporters consist of sport enthusiasts and health professionals.

What do Silverfit offer? Well there no gyms, no high gym fees and no Lycra! What there is are fun and fitness sessions in Hyde Park that includes swimming, running, guided walks and cycling.

Silverfit meets in Hyde Park at the Will to Win Café – next to the tennis courts, South Carriage Drive, W2 2UH (off Kensington Road) every Tuesday fortnight at 9.30am starting June 18th. Annual membership – £5, each session for members £1, sessions for non-members £2.50.

Always wanted to ride a bike but never learned? It’s not too late! Cycle Confident will teach you.  Begin on a Boris Bike – you don’t have to own your own.

You are not too old to start running – total beginners will be shown how to do it and enjoy the experience. A gentle jog around the Serpentine Lake so not too far.

Fancy a walk with an educational twist – Members of the Royal Parks Foundation will guide you round the park, each walk with a different focus.

Visit Westminster Council’s senior playground. Silverfit will help you use the outdoor machines safely.

There’s an old fashioned warm up led by an approved instructor from Greenwich Leisure Limited to get you in the mood.

And to end your sessions a tea and biscuits get together in the café.

From July there will be additional sessions – coached swimming in the Serpentine, 9 hole putting and tennis.

Come and join in the fun – call 07721 419 518, email info@silverfit.org.uk  or visit http://www.silverfit.org.uk/ for lots more information.
